The Students’ Union operates a small vehicle fleet, this means that clubs, societies and individual students can book them out for use! Are you moving house? Are you planning a day trip with other students? Then look into our fleet!
Where we don’t have availability we also have accounts with external companies with cheap deals so still put in a booking and we will see what we can do for you!
The only requirements are a valid driving licence, a completed driver application form and a valid reason to use our resource!
Costs
Our Fleet
Costs are calculated using a combination of a day rate and a charge per mile of usage and depends on the category of vehicle hired.
Our Cars are charged at 65p per mile for the first 100 miles used and then 45p per mile thereafter.
Our MPVs/Vans/Minibuses are charged at 91p per mile for the first 100 miles used and then 60p per mile thereafter.
The day rate is applicable to all vehicles and is £10 per day , chargeable after the first 24 hours.
Included in these costs are:
- Fuel/AdBlue (through provided Fuel Cards)
- Vehicle Servicing and Repairs
- Consumables (Screenwash, Oil, etc.)
- Insurance coverage
- Staff costs
- Dartford Cross Charges
Our External Hire Companies
We currently use two hire companies (Enterprise and Kendall’s) for any special requirement or when our fleet is all in use. The costs of this hire depends on the vehicle type requested and is charged on a per day basis. We will arrange a quote for you , if possible, before your hire request so you can confirm you are happy with the price.
By booking this option through us we provide insurance for your hire period but we do not cover fuel costs or any associated charges that the hire company impose under their terms of agreement. All our external hires are under a same-to-same fuel policy so must be returned with the same level of fuel as the vehicle was collected with.
All of our vehicles are ULEZ exempt/compliant.
