Female Takeover Week is a Students’ Union and Team Surrey collaboration campaign designed to encourage women of all backgrounds to get involved with sports and extracurricular activities in a safe access environment. This year, Team Surrey will be running the headline event at the Surrey Sports Park on 5th November.
If you missed the Takeover, or just want more to get involved in further activities throughout the week, there will be plenty of other opportunities for you. From sports and activities to casual socials and workshops, there is something for everyone.
All sessions will be delivered by Team Surrey clubs or student societies, meaning you will be surrounded by fellow students. Almost all activities are free and do not require sign-ups, meaning you can just turn up, meet new people, and most importantly – have fun!
Netball
8th November – 17:30-18:30 – Surrey Sports Park
Free additional women’s only session for anyone of any level of experience to come and join!
Poker Society
10th November – 18:30 – 32 MS 01
Ladies only poker table for Female Takeover. It will serve as a teaching table for women/girls who have never played but are interested in learning, and will be a social atmosphere, so anyone can join.
Tennis
10th November – 19:00 – 21:00 – Surrey Sports Park Courts 1&2
Women’s only tennis session for both member and non-members of any ability to come and play Tennis!
Salsa & Bachata Soc
11th November – 18:00 – University Hall.
We are having a female-only workshop on Bachata run by their instructor Mariana
The workshop is £3 for the hour session.
GameSoc
13th November – 14:00 – 18:00 – 28 AP 02
We’re running a female-only session for Board Games, Magic the Gathering and Warhammer, and people can come along with as much or as little experience in any of these things as they want.
